Amazon.com Product Description Equally suited to entertainment and utility, the Timex T617S is perfect for any bedroom or kitchen, offering accurate auto-set timekeeping, CD and radio playback, stereo speakers, onboard nature sounds, and an external audio input. The unit's stately silver finish and translucent CD door add visual touches of class, and its versatile CD playback modes include repeat and random play. Once plugged in, the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory-installed 100-year calendar (year/month/day, 2000 to 2099). The clock will even self-adjust for Daylight Savings time and leap years. It features a programmable sleep mode with independent sleep volume, too (select 15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes), so you can drift to sleep or wake to your choice of a favorite radio station, a favorite CD track, or any of the unit's 4 nature sounds: ocean surf, rushing brook, forest spring, and wind chimes. The T617S's 2 alarms each function independently, so both can be set for either the same or different wake signals. For radio listening, you'll enjoy drift-free digital PLL (phase-locked-loop) tuning with 12 preset stations for 1-touch tuning convenience for your favorites (6 FM, 6 AM). Use the clock's handy Smart Knob to quickly and easily adjust all settings and major functions. Ideal for a portable MP3 player or cassette player, the T617S's auxiliary audio input broadens your listening options to include any source you deem appropriate. Hookup with portable audio devices is a snap using the supplied stereo minijack-to-minijack audio cable. And, just to make sure you never miss an important appointment (if only some quality time with your shower or morning coffee), the clock also comes with Timex's Sure Alarm battery backup. Just install 3 AAA batteries (not included) to activate this feature. In the event of a power failure--or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move the clock--Sure Alarm will maintain your clock and alarm settings for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarms will sound at the appointed time (while operating on battery power, the alarms will sound only as buzzer). What's in the Box Clock, FM wire antenna, a stereo analog audio interconnect (minijack to minijack), and a user's manual with warranty information.

Easy to Use August 22, 2008 This is a great clock Radio. The alarm is easy to set. Nice large numbers and alarm icons. Only problem is the first one we ordered had a broken knob and had to be returned.
Just Stopped Working after 3 weeks! August 1, 2008 Got this because of some good reviews, mainly because it seemed to have an easy to use interface.
The basic problems seem to stem from the location of many of the controls on the front panel which is a CD door that opens and closes.
In only a few weeks of use, and not using CD or MP3 player, it just stopped working. All of the controls either stopped responding or began to operate other functions in a chaotic way. Became impossible to read time, set alarm, play radio, or turn off "nap" setting timer.
Over all, probably a design flaw that places sensitive controls in an unstable, risky location on the device.
Great Clock Radio July 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a gift. I found having nature sounds, am/fm, alarm, cd player, and mp3 compatible appealing. We've had this radio since December 2007.
I was concerned this week because the cd player stopped working. It had worked until recently. The cd would spin, but no sound. I tapped the alarm on both sides and it plays again. I will keep you posted if issues occur again with the cd player.
I still highly recommend it.
Timex T617 CD Clock Ratio w/Nature Sounds July 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I placed my order on Monday and Wednesday went to sleep knowing I'd wake up on time. The turnaround time was terrific. I agree with other reviewers that the nature sounds are disappointing. I settled on the chimes (choice #3), though I wonder if the methodical traffic on my busy street might be as easy to adjust to. I prefer ocean sounds to nod off to, but being a beach lover, I know that all living things sleep. So why are the soothing sounds of ocean waves punctuated by screeching gulls (choice #1)? I don't find the mating calls of frogs in a rain forest (choice #2 conducive to relaxation either. There's a time and place for everything and I wish the frogs had a curfew. I also don't quite get the bright night light coming on when you select sleep. If you need to get up during the night and need a light, if the sleep timer has run down, the light will have turned off. I'd rather turn on my 99 cent night light if I need it and be able to see the time on a modestly lit display than have to turn the clock to the wall to avoid the annoying bright blue glow. On the bright side (no pun intended), the radio is lots easier to set than its older version and the sound quality is what you'd expect for the price.
Great product, too bad it doesn't work June 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This clock had many features I wanted--a CD player, headphone jack, nature sounds, dual alarms. When I saw how many people had problems with it, I paused, hoping I would get lucky. I didn't. Within a week, the CD was malfunctioning. Once it wouldn't turn on at all. On other occasions, it would start making a strange noise and turn itself off soon afterwards.
If you don't need the CD player, this clock may work for you. A couple of warnings other reviewers haven't mentioned: if you have headphones plugged in, the alarm WILL NOT sound over the speakers. So if you take off the headphones during the night and don't unplug them, you won't hear the alarm. Second, the CD repeat function only repeats once. I use a sleep CD, so this requires that I turn on the CD player and reset the "Sleep" function each time I wake up during the night--not helpful. Also, it's a little complicated to set the alarms. Finally, even at its dimmest setting, the display is bright in a dark room. The light that comes on when the CD/radio/nature sounds is even brighter--bright enough to read by!
For the quality, this clock should be half the price or less. Better yet, it should simply WORK. CD players have been around a long time. There's no reason a manufacturer should have such a hard time producing a product that performs as it ought to. I'm returning mine.
