Product Description Now you can fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame with the 28mm wide-angle setting. Pull in subjects from far away to capture even subtle facial expressions with the dynamic 280mm telephoto setting. Ideal for traveling, Panasonic's DMC-TZ4 Lumix 8.1-megapixel digital camera combines a wide-ranging LEICA DC Vario-Elmar lens with a handy, compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function also extends the zoom to as much as 15.9x, giving you even greater telephoto power.Set the TZ4 to iA mode and let the five Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them; Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. With a total of 230,000 dots, the big, bright 2.5" diagonal LCD makes viewing and shooting easier and more comfortable. The Intelligent LCD adjusts brightness automatically in 10 steps as the ambient light level changes, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. The Clipboard allows you to take photos of maps, timetables and other travel info. They are saved in a separate folder of the built-in memory to distinguish them from normal photos. You can print titles and other characters on the photos you shoot with the Title Edit and Stamp. This is great for creating your own postcards from a vacation trip. Input your departure date and destination with the Travel Date Setting. Later, during photo viewing, the camera will indicate on which day of the trip each shot was taken and the location.

Great Point & Shoot without loosing quality. June 17, 2008 I previously had a much larger Fuji that seemed to always take blurry pics. I wanted to keep the amount of zoom and have a much more compact camera and get a perfect picture quality that my Fuji lacked. I've only had this camera one week but have taken many different pics in many different lighting/places. These include baseball game, restaurants, work/office, home (& others' homes) and just driving down the road. I have to say this totally meets my requirements for easy to use and still GREAT quality photos. I would definitely recommend this for someone looking for the same in a compact package. I did note this is heavier than it looks (not too heavy) but I'm sure that is b/c the good quality parts. Buy this camera!!
Tempting specs; bad product! Really bad. June 14, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
It looks great on paper - wide angle Leica lens, 10x zoom, 8.1MP, wide screen modes, image stabilization. What a disappointment though.
1. Pictures come out grainy (noisy). And it is VERY obvious; you don't have to use a magnifier to see it.
2. Bad performance in low light.
3. The camera stopped working within minutes of receiving it. Kept displaying message "shutdown camera and start it again" - but to no avail.
4. Somewhat bulky for a compact.
I'll stick with Canon thank you.

One Pretty Good Camera. June 8, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Thus far, this has been one very good camera! It is easy to use. I have taken some very good pictures of sports events, dimly lit indoor events, and even a self-portrait. It seems to be just the right camera for point-and-shoot, amateur photographers such as myself. Since I'm not a serious photographer, I can not attest to the specific perks of owning this camera. Yet, I would suggest this camera to a friend.
Excellent Choice May 23, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a truly excellent choice for a small camera. Pocket sized yet a great 10x optical Leica zoom, excellent auto function and easy to read instructions. Fantastic view finder and wide angle, as well as micro. I highly recommend the TZ5 and TZ4. Simply said, used it over a month with 200 plus photo's of graduation and grandchildren, including crystal clear movies, 10 out of 10.
