| Customer Reviews:
Clancy & the Dynamites January 5, 2008 The music of Clancy Eccles the producer and artist is a favorite among reggae collectors and the tracks he produced for his Clandisc label are among the most sought after. This is largely due to his great studio band, the Dynamites who could play some of the most upbeat and tightly syncopated rhythms in Jamaica. This band was comprised of many of the same members as the legendary Soul Vendors, the studio band for Studio One. (Winston Grennan, Hux Brown, Ernest Ranglin, Jackie Jackson, Joe Isaacs and Dizzy Moore to name a few) He recorded many of the top vocalists of the time such as Monty Morris, Alton Ellis,Larry Marshall, and of course himself. And this compilation is a testament to the abilities of those musicians and singers. Some of the songs are played at a much faster tempo than most casual reggae fans might be accustomed to, but this album is a great way to get deeper into authentic Jamaican music and to listen to something that hasn't been watered down. And this is only the tip of the iceberg. Most likely there are many more classic tracks waiting to be discovered in the seemingly limitless vaults of the Jamaican recording studios.
Timeless Clancy Eccles March 14, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Clancy Eccles-one of the premier producers in Jamaican music presents his showcase of numerous talent. Eccles was a producer who was ahead of his time. This album presents very rare grooves and rare artists whose time has come. You can listen to this album over and over and become entranced with the melodies and rich harmonies so prevalent in early rock steady music. Standout cuts: Please Stay-Larry Marshall, Wanderer-Beres Hammond, Love Brother Love-Hugh Malcolm...really the whole album is the bomb!!!
