Effective, Easy to use and transport June 30, 2008
I think this is the best laptop desk I've seen. Among those that are effective at keeping both computer and lap cool, this is by far the easiest to carry along, as it will fit into most notebook bags other than the simple sleeve type. My computer is a MacBook Pro, which runs pretty warm, and I get no perceptible heat into my lap with this lap desk. The increased airspace under the computer lets it run a degree or two cooler than when sitting on its own feet on a desk, as well.

I originally purchased the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme in Wide, and later came back to purchase a second, small one, for flying.
The G800 is like it's big brother, except narrower (same width as my 14" notebook and slightly thinner and lighter. I particularly hate flying and I really hate sitting in airports, which seems to be a minimum of 6 hours for any flight anymore. Like everyone else, I use my laptop to keep up, and like everyone else, I used to end up burning my legs from my laptop. Add that to hot airports (why can't they keep them cool?) and it made for a miserable experience.
Planes are even worse. A lot of them I simply can't sit my laptop on the tray because the person in front of me reclines their chair, so it has to go on my lap. Same problem - burned legs. And if you've ever sat for 90 minutes on the runway waiting for takeoff, you know the planes hit 90F in no time flat (and why can't they run the AC???). Without my G800, I couldn't use my laptop at all.
The G800 Aerogel Extreme solves that problem. I don't feel any heat at all - just none - even after 4 hours. I just close my laptop, pick it up along with the G800 and stick it in my bag (it's about 0.5" thick and the no-slip surface keeps it next to the laptop) and I'm off.
If you like using a mouse like me, I'd suggest the wide version for home use, but if you travel or use the touch pad, the G800 is awesome.
Be warned: once you use one, you'll never be able to live without it!

The G800 works great and substantially decreases the heat on my legs while using it. Additionally I have found that the grippy aspects allow me to better use my laptop without my thighs parallel to the floor. (The lapdesk prevents the laptop from sliding and the lapdesk doesn't slide on my legs.
My laptop runs cooler and the fan runs slower (quieter).
Only one problem:
My wife immediately absconded with my G800. I have it back now and we have reached and understanding. In a multi-laptop household you may want to buy more than one.
All-in-all I would strongly recommend this product.
Great for travel January 14, 2008

I saw that laplogic makes some designs specifically for travel but I decided I would rather have the "extreme" protection. Have to say- it really IS extreme. My lap stays cool and the product is way more comfortable to use than other lap products.
I bought 2: this one and the larger one that has room for a mouse. That way I have one at home and one to travel with. I even eat dinner off them...that's not a product feature, but, it works. :)

Just bought the smaller one for work and love it! It's surprisingly light and works **great**. No more laptop heat and the no-slide surfaces are great. Highly recommended!
