XACT XTR3CK Sirius Plug + Play Reciever & Vehicle Kit August 31, 2007 Based upon other reviews I purchased this unit.
It was nice to know what I ordered is exactly what I wanted. This unit is compact; but loaded with enhancements. I bought the unit for a dual purpose. One to install in my car and two to use on my 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle. I bought one extra magnetic mount antenna to leave permanently in my car. I was able to totally hide the wires for the antenna. I did however use the cigarette lighter adapter for portability and also used the cassette hookup rather than the fm transmitter. It works very well. I used the suction cup mount for the unit and it also works very well.
For my motorcycle I chose another approach for mounting. I purchase a seperate mount which I was able to snap the unit factory mount into. I also use my cigarette lighter adapter for power and then plugged the unit directly into my radio vs using the fm antenna.
Both approaches totally fulfill my needs and I recommend this unit for anyone who disires a compact unit with tremendous versility.
Not XACTly great. August 29, 2007 I purchased this receiver to use exclusively in my car so I would not have to keep rotating my Sportster unit from the home docking station to my car several times a day. I have been frustrated in the reception with the XACT unit. The signal is not as strong and when I pass a driver with a satelitte radio their signal overpowers mine. These our problems I never had with the Sportster. Considering I'm paying for a 2nd subscription to use this unit it is disappointing that I am not able to enjoy it fully.
Excellent, Reliable and good value August 11, 2007 What else can I say, but that for the money this unit has been very good and reliable?
Nice concept, but poor product quality July 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Our local warehouse club was closing these little units out, with a great price of less than $30 for the radio, car kit and home kit, plus a remote. It was too good of a price to ignore.
I picked up one of the units, and got it installed in less than 10 minutes. I got the service activated, and it worked quite well.... for about 24 hours. After the first day, the radio would completely lose its memory of all station presets and revert to the standard non-subscriber channel of 184.
Well... this wouldn't work, so I took the unit back and exchanged it for a second unit of the same kind. After installation, I was quite happy that everything seemed to be working.... until the next day, when again the unit completely lost its mind and lost all preset frequencies and would revert to channel 184 everytime I would turn off the car.
Now, let me say, that for the 24 hours the unit worked, it seemed quite good. The built in FM transmitter easily could be heard over local noise, and the signal was clear and clean.
However, given that there was obviously a problem, I tried to call the manufacturer, XACT. Well.... they do have an 800 number, but there is nothing but pre-recorded help messages. You can't get to an operator, and there is no live customer service!! In other words, no support.
So, this second one went back to the store, and I've picked up a completely different unit, the InV. It seems OK so far, but the FM transmitter in this new unit is weak, and even using the FM extender antenna, works marginally. I would only recommend an installation if you can directly feed audio into your car's stereo system.
Well, there's my two cents.... nice radio, but poor construction and no customer service from the manufacturer. You'd be best to find something else.
Xact satellite radio July 16, 2007 Nice radio, it works well in our vehicle. I am not happy at all with the remote. You have to hold it right in front of the radio.....what's the point of having the remote?
