Product Description The KX-TG9334T DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls. DECT 6.0 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound. Operating in the 1.9GHz frequency range, your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common household devices. Now you can program each handset to ring at your discretion. Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to Night Mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom. In the meantime, the handset in the den will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping. Now you don't have to be holding the phone to see who's calling. Using text-to-speech technology, the Caller ID2 information is announced between rings. The KX-TG9334T also boast a talking alarm clock that will tell you when it's time for lunch, and a talking battery alert that politely tells you when your battery is low with a Please Charge Phone reminder. Store the Caller ID info of any and all unwanted callers into your phone's Call Block list so that you can eliminate future pesky calls. After the information is stored, your unwanted callers will receive a busy signal when they call you again. The Light-Up Indicator with Ringer Alert at the base of the antenna will flash quickly to show that you have an incoming call, and it will flash slowly to let you know you have a new message. Previous phone conflicted with wireless computer..this was the fix. September 2, 2008 If you go from wired to wireless for computers, watch out for the possible problems with portable house phones. Our phone voice mail stopped working and connections were not as good. Heard about Version 6.0 for portable phones and after checking features...........this offered the most at the best price and also has received great reviews from others.
Solved our problems and updated all our phones. Buy it...it works!
Great phones August 31, 2008 These phones are great. We don't use the answering machine. The phones have a great feature that indicate if you have a voicemail message. You can then dial your voicemail by pressing one button that dials your voicemail number that you have set up in the phone. The phone has a funny feature that has a talking caller id. We only use it on one of the handsets, as it can be a bit annoying. There is also a night time mode that allows you to turn the ringer off at night on specific handsets. Another nice feature is the frequently dialed numbers that you set up. Once it is set up on one handset, it is visible to all other handsets.
I highly recommend this phone.
So good I unplugged my other phones August 30, 2008 I talk on the phone for hours a day with a wired headset (I telecommute). All these handsets have a 2.5mm jacks, so I can use the headset in any of the phones. The battery life isn't quite good enough to make it a full day of talking, so I keep two handsets in their bases on my desk.
After using this phone for a while, I unplugged my big serious business phone and just use these. The portability, even around my desk, is fantastic. The handsets are small enough to fit into my shirt pocket and let me run to the door to sign for a FedEx package while I am in a meeting without much disruption.
The range is fantastic. The base station is on the 3rd floor, but I can keep a good signal on the 2nd floor, the 1st floor, and even in the basement. No dropouts, no noise, no cell phone-style "breaking up".
The phone book is shared across the handsets. I don't keep many numbers in it, but it's fine for a few numbers.
The Talking Caller ID is a little silly, I just turned it off. I think it does an admirable job of pronouncing difficult names, though.
I don't use the speaker functionality but imagine it's fair at best.
The menus are OK and not too hard to figure out. As a usability critic, I don't think the UI on the phone is a pinnacle of usability, but it's by no means bad. It's functional.
I was hesitant to buy this set because of the high price, but I have no regrets after 6 months or so.
Update:
After looking at some of the other reviews, I thought I would add a few comments: - I haven't been able to figure out how to change the volume. Generally it's not a problem, but once or twice I've looked at the handset and thought "where is the volume control?" - The blinking orange light is definitely annoying--I use this system with a Vonage line, and for some reason the handsets always blinked. I just disabled the blinking light because (1) I don't use the answering machine and (2) I don't use voicemail with Vonage--calls forward to my cell and I get my voicemail there. - The always-on orange light isn't a problem for me with the handset next to my bed. I've had clock radios that I had to put pillows over because of the light. No problem here.
Improved technology! August 30, 2008 Love these phones - especially the voice that announces all calls! Good quality reception, easy to use, small and compact. An excellent choice!
Some special features August 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used the older panasonic similar phone set that had a phone book sent between handsets, and no Do NOT DISTURB feature. This newer KX-TG9334T set is far better with some unusual features I did not expect. First, under features it list "Transferable phonebook = No". And the DO NOT DISTURB looked to simply be a feature to turn off the ringing phone-set by phone-set. Not controlled from the base unit. However, actually the features they add are far superior. The DO NOT DISTURB (or NIGHT MODE) has the ability to enter a time span for NIGHT MODE to engage. So you can enter 11pm to 6am (for example) and turn on NIGHT MODE on one, two or all handsets. What happens is on the set time the ringer will not ring for that time span every day as long as NIGHT MODE is kept turned on. This is a great feature, MUCH better than a DO NOT DISTURB button on the base unit (some other brand phones), that silence all phones. The problem there is you MUST remember to dis-engage the do not disturb button to allow the phones to ring. A task often forgotten. With the Panasonic NIGHT MODE, the "timer" takes care of that for you. FANTASTIC!!!! Another great feature is the phonebook. No, you can not send a list between handsets, because you DONT NEED TO! The Panasonic KX-TG9334T keeps one phonebook list on the base units memory, that all attached handsets can access and add to or edit. That means, you can add a called to the book from ANY handset, then ALL phones can see the same list. No more updating the list on one handset, then having to transfer that list to all other handsets on the system. The "shared" phonebook system is sooooo much nicer. Again... FANTASTIC!!! And the BLOCK CALLER feature is nice too. Do you have someone/place that tried to bug you selling stuff? Add their number to the BLOCKED LIST and when they try to call, the phone rings only once, then they get a busy signal. TAKE THAT UNWANTED CALLER!!! There are a few quirks I have to mention with the KX-TG9334T system. 1. The lighted display is very bright. Too bright. And they should have added a brightness control. 2. The message alert light should be more visible. It wraps from the back of the top to the top of the handset. If the handset is at eye level, like on a nightstand facing you, you can not see the flashing message waiting light hardly at all. You almost need to turn the handset backwards so you will see if a message comes in. My old panasonics had the same message light, but it wrapped around over the top to front of the handset, easily viewable. 3. The lighted screen needs a timer control. As is, the screen only lights for .5 seconds. So it blanks off while you're still trying to read to make a menu adjustment. Kind of annoying. Like a cell phone, the screen display needs a timer control to allow it to remain lighted to your needs, say up to 5 seconds. But the fantastic features cancels out the quirks, with these KX-TG9334T phones. I was paying $7 a month thru Qwest for their DO NOT DISTURB feature that allowed a timer on-off setting. Now, for $zero$ I have the same feature built into these phones. Pretty nice saving $84 a year on my Qwest bill... FANTASTIC!!!
