To Everyone Who's Ever Gone Blank While Taking A Test August 19, 2008 "Dedication: This book is dedicated TO EVERYONE WHO'S EVER GONE BLANK WHILE TAKING A TEST, or said "profane" when they meant "profound," or wished they'd studied Latin when they had the chance.
But most of all, it's dedicated to those of you who believe you just aren't smart enough to learn. Because you certainly are." [from the book of the dedication]
From the word to a mental image to the definition August 9, 2008 This book takes a word and what you might think of just by looking at it, adds a visual image, and then ties that image to the real definition. This is my favorite way to learn vocabulary words because it's not rote memorization, it's an understanding of the word and how it's used. There are pronunciation hints too so when you've learned the words, you can use them in your everyday speech.
  Great,But... March 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book its great if you can sit and read, without being bored out of your mind. This book tries to teach you these words through many mnemonic devices that i think are awesome, if thats how you learn. For instance aloof, "think of a person on a roof, separated and detached" than their might be a picture to further help you remember. Personally I made flash cards with all of these words. That was a tedious job, so i ended up buying a set of flash cards instead.
Great variety of Vocabulary October 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book has many vocabulary words, with funny sentences and pictures that goes with each vocabulary. The only thing negative thing, there isn't a picture for EVERY word, just some words.

This book was invaluable, couldn't believe how many of these words were on the actual test.
