Product Description The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand prevents your laptop from overheating. The unique patented wave design uses natural convection to enhance fan cooling. This stand has low power consumption via your laptop's USB port with no bulky power adapters.
Amazon.com Product Description If you own a laptop, you know all about heat. Because today's notebooks rely on fast processors to do the job, they generate a lot of heat, with much of it landing directly in your lap. Some laptops can have a "normal" operating temperature as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Not only is that unsafe and uncomfortable, it can also wear your laptop down, cause it to crash unexpectedly, and reduce its overall life expectancy.
The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to cradle your laptop in cooling comfort. |
Now you can be more comfortable while you work. |

The USB cable is neatly tucked away in a storage compartment on the bottom. View larger. | Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on a patented wave design and ergonomic features that will not only help protect your laptop by keeping it cool, but will also increase your comfort while you work. As part of Belkin's laptop@home line of accessories, the Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to help you to take full advantage of the benefits your laptop has to offer-- comfortably, economically, and stylistically. Twice the Cooling Power, Half the Consumption In contrast to most other laptop coolers that use two fans to suck warm air from the laptop's bottom, the Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on the natural flow of heat and air circulation to do the hard work and needs only one fan to do the trick. Instead of drawing the laptop heat down to push it out, the stand takes full advantage of natural air flow and heat's natural tendency to rise by pushing the hot air upward through the channel and away from your laptop. The single high-capacity fan, powered by a USB port on your laptop, sits in the middle of the cooling stand, and hot air is channeled out to the left and right sides of your laptop. The result is heat dissipation that's equal to a two-fan solution but that uses less than half the power. And because the fan is USB-powered, you won't have any bulky batteries or adapters (which can also both add heat!) to weigh you down. You simply place your laptop on the stand, pull the USB cable out of the convenient storage compartment, and plug it into your computer. The stand will take care of the rest. Computing in Comfort and Style Measuring 12.6 x 11.6 x 1 inches (W x D x H), the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed for 15.4-inch or smaller laptops. To prevent slippage, the stand features rubber pads on the feet, and a small plastic panel folds out from the bottom of the stand that elevates the rear for better ergonomics. The gentle slope reduces wrist strain, and by raising the screen height, it also reduces neck strain that is common to laptop users. Unlike the industrial gray and metallic appearance of other cooling stands, the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand offers an attractive, gently sloped look that you'll be proud to show off as you work. The stand's thin profile means that you can easily slide the stand into your notebook bag as you travel from meeting to meeting, or cafe to cafe. And weighing a mere 22 ounces, you'll hardly notice that it's in your bag.

Not wide enough August 30, 2008 This product has a pretty good quality. The fan noise is acceptable compare to the competitors. The only problem is that this cooler is just not wide enough. As a result, The laptop cannot stand on its rubber which usually made to keep the distance between laptop and surface so the ventilation will not get clog. The hottest part of my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad Y510 15.4 inch) is on the left side of the touch pad; there's an ventilation on the bottom of the hottest part. Anyhow, because the cooler is not wide enough, It cause the ventilation blocked by the cooler rubber pad. Advertisement says that It's designed for 15.4 inch laptop, but it is not. It is for the smaller laptop. See the picture I posted for detail.
Just ok. August 29, 2008 I thought this for sure was going to be the cooling fan for me, after trying several no-name, in-store brands and not having much luck. I read the reviews for the Belkin F5L001 Laptop Cooling Stand and thought it would be the best option. The first few days of usage were fine and I was really happy that my laptop wasn't overheating and the only thing that I was less than happy with, was the foldout stand that kept closing. Its a little hard to pry open and my fingers have slipped and got cut in the open fan blade more than once. I was willing to work around the sticky stand but then things took a turn for the worst.
My fan seems to only want to work when it feels like it. The jack in the back of the fan, doesn't like to stay plugged in, though the jack itself seems to look fine with no damage. More often than not, I have to spend a few minutes fiddling with the cord to get the fan to stay on, and when I pick my laptop up, or move it slightly, it usually shuts off again and I have to repeat the process.
It's lasted longer than my past cooling fans but I still don't think it's the best. I wish now I'd invested a little more money for one that perhaps, would work better.
Noisy and poorly designed August 28, 2008 I bought this to replace an Antec cooler I've had for a couple of years. I quickly discovered that this single fan cooler is actually much noisier than my older 2-fan Antec.
It also has an odd concave shape that makes your laptop wiggle if it is not sized just right. Or you'll have to push your laptop up to center it and have the cooler base stick out of the bottom. Which makes it uncomfortable if you're used to placing your hands on the palmrest.
GREAT CONCEPT POOR QUALITY August 23, 2008 Belkin clearly provided the specs for this unit to an Asian manufacturer which produced the cheapest quality product possible...I would venture to say that this item is worth no more than maybe $10 with the packaging reflecting at least $1.50 of that cost. Make no mistake, it is probably the best available currently but it will soon be replaced by better quality from another manufacturer. I purchased two thus far and had to return one because of a very noisy fan...Better you should wait for a superior product if you can.
Very shoddy and noisy August 17, 2008 Much like the review by Phyllis Staff (Dallas, Texas USA), the cooler lasted only a few months before the port for the connector disappeared and left it useless. Not that it was much use before then anyway.
I think it worked well for about a month and a half and then the fan was just so incredibly loud - I was somewhat relieved when the thing finally died all together a month later.
Just a real piece of crap.
Plus the fan is just located in the middle, and the hot spots on my laptop are on the edges.
I now have the Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler and it is so much nicer. The air covers the entire area under the laptop and it is quiet as a mouse.
