Excellent camera Poor battery consumption! August 18, 2008 Bought this camera 4 months ago and can't tell you how many batteries we go through. This camera takes very good pictures and if you can work all the functions it has it can take excellent pictures. Its a bit bigger than the standard pocket cameras, but its very sturdy in the hand especially if your at the zoo hanging over the wall a bit to get a picture of a sea lion.
Durable and well worth the money August 14, 2008 As an art/design instructor in a high school, I needed to find a camera which was durable enough for multiple users, had solid optical, had features which were easy to understand, and was at a reasonable price to be able to afford to buy multiple cameras. After reading many reviews, I purchased the Kodak Z1812IS.
After six months of the students using these, I am still impressed by the quality of both photo and video for the camera. Also, I particularly appreciate the aperture and shutter priority settings, which still give the user the ability to have some control over settings vs. a point and shoot. Also, the optical properties of the lens are of good quality. I was impressed for the price and would not hesitate to recommend this camera.
Kodak EasyShare Z812 IS, 8.1 Mega Pixels July 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As stated in my title, I have the 8.1MP version. I am writing my review here because my version is not available on Amazon. From what I can see, my camera looks exactly like the 8.2MP version. It has a 2.5in./6.4cm LCD screen. It is also High Definition. There are different mode settings for the flash (auto/off, red eye, fill), focus (close-up/macro, landscape, manual, normal), & drive(self-timer, burst, exposure bracketing, normal). There are several capture modes for the camera including smart scene, which analyzes the scene you are photographing & choses the best settings for that situation. There are other settings that allow for more artistic control over your photos, panoramic views, videos, & more. Overall, this camera takes great pictures & is easy to use. My camera, which was not purchased through Amazon, came with a shoulder strap, lens cover, USB cable, video cable, cd-rom software, & instruction booklet. For use with this camera, I also recommend: Nextop-2 Packs Kodak KLIC-8000 Brand New 1900mAh REPLACEMENT Battery + 1 Compatible Wall & Car Charger (FREE European Adaptor) for Kodak EasyShare Z612, Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS, EasyShare Z812 IS, EasyShare Z1012 IS, EasyShare Z1085 IS, EasyShare Z8612 IS

Good Value Some Minor Annoyances July 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned this camera for a short time and took it out for a day of wildlife photos recently. It has nice features and functionality for the price but a few deficiencies were apparent right away.
1. LCD is dim when taking pictures in sunlit to overcast lighting. Had difficulty seeing what I was taking pictures of.
2. The zoom in/out buttons are awkwardly placed so that when you use the eyepiece, your fingers get in the way. If the LCD was brighter you wouldn't have to use the eyepiece.
3. Time delay between depressing the shutter button and data transfer. It seems that after some tweaking like scaling down the image stabilization and autofocus options has reduced this delay. Actually seems acceptable now.
Other than those deficiencies, I am currently satisfied with it.

This camera takes so so pics, but is not built to last what so ever. Camera one lasted about 4 months with top notch care and just stopped working all together and support is nowhere to be found. The second one I bought, same model just more pixel's started to have flash problems with the bulp after maybe 30 pics and now wont turn on at all, again with top notch care after just 3 weeks. Kodak camera's suck, I got a HP and it works excellent and isn't so cumbersome and lasts more than a few weeks for the price. Kodak is such a Waste of money for such a hefty price for it's products.
