Amazon.com Review Are you looking for an entertaining way to supplement a high school student's academic skills? The test-prep experts at Princeton Review have devised High School Edge, an impressive package with seven CD-ROMs, which cover algebra, geometry, vocabulary, Spanish, French, anatomy, health, SAT preparation, and report writing and research. High School Edge is aimed at college-bound students. Though it offers instruction in subjects that are taught in school, it should not be mistaken for a remedial program. Two of the seven discs feature the Princeton Review's SAT prep material. The target audience here is average and above-average students who are headed to college but don't ace all their classes and tests. There is so much material included in High School Edge that it's hard to imagine any high school student having time to use it all. All the CD-ROMs are easily loaded, and the programs are very simple to use. The graphics are cartoonish and friendly, with a dose of the Princeton Review's smart-aleck attitude thrown in for good measure. The Complete Reference Collection gives you access to 10 valuable references, including Webster's New World Dictionary, The World Almanac, and Compton's Atlas and Encyclopedia. High School Edge comes with a Princeton Review guarantee: if a student finishes the program and doesn't raise his or her grade in algebra, geometry, Spanish, French, or anatomy, Princeton Review will refund the price of the software. To get a refund, the student must return the used CD-ROMs (which have an automatic record-keeping function that shows which lessons and tests have been taken) along with copies of report cards. A student must use the program within two grading periods to qualify for a refund. --Matthew Kohut
