Beware May 24, 2008 I installed this on a newly purchased laptop. This became very very "HOT" and basically burned up my laptops cpu. I am now in hand of a non-working newly purchased laptop uncovered by any warranty.
Beware!!
BUYER BEWARE! NO Super-G 108Mbps speeds for Vista April 18, 2008 There are serious driver issues with this card when it comes to Vista.
1) Netgear's latest driver (v.5.2) does not allow speeds greater than 54Mbps on Vista. The "latest" driver was released back in Novemver 2007. Previous versions dont work either. FYI I am using this card with the Netgear's Super-G 108Mbps WGT624 v3 router running the latest firmware version V2.0.26_1.0.1NA. This router is recommended by netgear's website for use with this card.
2) Whats worse is that Netgear is officially aware of this problem since May 1,2007. The following is from their website dated May 1, 2007:-
"Known limitations Vista Driver limitation: 1. Super G (108M) is not fully supported."
Although I think Super G (108Mbps) is not supported AT ALL.
(Source: Go to Netgear's website, search for this product and go to version 5.0 released on May 1, 2007).
3) Customer service is BAD. One of them also asked me to turn off the 108Mbps mode from my router and use the router at 54Mbps b/g mode as a solution to get 108Mbps speeds on my network card (totally insane). When asked about this driver issue, they stopped answering to e-mails.
4) I haven't tried this card on XP.

It is an excellent video card for the price. Just make sure you know what version card you have so you can download the newest drivers.

Excellent external card January 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very nice external card. Doesn't quite have the range of a standard integrated card, but few mainstream external cards do.
The card works out of the box with Windows XP and Ubuntu (the driver utility must be installed first on Windows).
